Tethered Hearts

Two hearts, one tether. Work together or fall apart.

Tethered Hearts is a short and sweet co-op puzzle platformer created for a game jam with the theme of "Love".

Control two characters bound together by an unbreakale, physics-based tether. The bond that connects you is your greatest tool and your biggest challenge. You'll need to communicate and cooperate to navigate treacherous levels, supporting each other to overcome obstacles that are impossible to face alone.

Swing across vast gaps, boost each other to new heights, and act as a life-saving anchor in this charming adventure about reliance and support.

Gameplay & Mechanics

The tether is more than just a rope—it's a physical bond. Use its properties to your advantage:

  • Anchor: Have one player stand firm on a platform to act as a solid anchor point.
  • Swing: Let the other player leap into the void and swing like a pendulum to cross impossible gaps.
  • Stack: Give your partner a boost! Jump on top of each other to reach higher ledges.
  • Pull: Work together to climb vertical passages, taking turns pulling the other up to the next safe spot.

Controls

The game is best played with two people sharing a keyboard, but you can also control both characters yourself!

Level Editor:

  • When testing a level, press Escape to quit the test and return to the editor without losing your progress.

Make Your Own Puzzles!

Unleash your creativity with the built-in Level Editor!

  • Create: Click and drag to draw platforms. Click to place the players and the goal.
  • Test: Jump into your creation at any time with the "Test Level" button to see if it's possible. Get stuck? Just press Escape to go right back to editing.
  • Share: The editor can't save files, but it can export your level to a simple text string. Click "Save Level to Text," copy the code, and share it with friends on Discord, forums, or anywhere else! They can paste it into their own editor and play your masterpiece.

Developer's Note

This game was an incredible journey. It started as a simple idea and, through a unique collaborative process between me, aka rihnile, aka Silentify, and Mr Mannerheim, grew into a complete game with a physics engine, animation system, levels, and a full level editor.. The entire process was a testament to rapid iteration, playtesting, and debugging.
